Turnip greens

Turnips are suited to the maritime climate of western and central Europe. They can be sown in spring from March onwards and are quick growing. For this reason they were often sown as stubble turnips after the grain harvest. Sow in July for an autumn harvest. For turnip tops the variety to use is Namenia. Turnips are cooked as vegetables but are also suitable for fermenting.

Cultivation tip:
Protective netting helps against cabbage root fly.
